Two important elections are coming up in May for Collin County voters. Some cities and school districts will have local elections May 7, with early voting April 25-May 3. This ballot will also include two proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution that were approved by the state legislature at a special session last fall, too late to appear on the November 2, 2021, ballot with other proposed amendments.
Runoffs for Republican and Democratic primary races where the leading candidate did not get more than 50% of the votes cast will be May 24, with early voting May 16-20.

|  | What Can Collin County Voters Expect in 2022
Earlier in April, The League of Women Voters of Collin County hosted an online voter education talk with Collin County Elections Administrator, Bruce Sherbet and NAACP Legal Defense Fund attorney, Christina Das. They answered voters' questions about changes in Texas election law, what you should expect at the polls, and much more. You can now view the recording of the event here!
|  | Virtual Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrar Training
There are several opportunities coming up for individuals that wish to become volunteer deputy voter registrars in Collin County.
Collin County Elections Department 60 Minute Virtual Training Session
- Wednesday, June 1, 2022 @ 6:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, July 6, 2022 @ 6:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, August 10, 2022 @ 6:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, September 7, 2022 @ 6:30 p.m.
At any of these training sessions, you can receive training and earn a VDR certification for only Collin County.
Quick Volunteer Deputy Registrar Facts
- In order to register someone to vote in Texas, you must have a VDR certification for the county the person resides in.
- If you have a VDR certification in 2021, your VDR certification will not expire until Dec. 31, 2022. VDR certificates expire on the last day of every even numbered year.
- If you become a VDR virtually, your certificate and materials will be mailed to you after the training.
|  | Join the LWV-CC Book Club in June!
All are invited to the April League of Women Voters of Collin County Book Club! On June 8, 6:30-7:30pm we will be discussing The Wordy Shipmates by Sarah Vowell via Zoom. We will talk about our thoughts on the book as well as various discussion questions.

The League will be registering voters, answering questions about voting, and distributing non-partisan Vote411 cards at Plano's AsiaFest for the first time.
The festival is on May 7th from 11 - 5 pm at Plano's Haggard Park.
Plano AsiaFest is an annual celebration of various Asian cultures and traditions put on by the Celebrating Asian American Heritage Foundation. Sponsorship includes the City of Plano.
