Book: Our Unfinished March by Eric Holder
This book is excellent, and very easy to read. His section “Lessons from the Past” has chapters on the history of voting for white men, black men, women, and black Americans. Mandatory reading for all of us.
Here is a meaningful quote about our attempts at universal suffrage: “...a kaleidoscope of victories and defeats, steps forward and backward, progress won and then snatched away.” Feel free to register for the session even if you haven’t read the book.
Other Planned Programs for the Year
September - Banning Books Undermines Democracy
December - November Election Report
February - Healthcare and Housing Disparities
April - Environmental Justice
Dates and details will follow.
Come to our Fall Kick-off Meeting to hear about more ways you can get involved.
