Help us put on a great 50th Anniversary Celebration!
Interested in helping with our 50th Anniversary Celebration on March 30th? Consider volunteering for an hour of the event to help us make it a night to remember for our community. We need volunteers for setup, cleanup, check-in, silent auction setup, and to help facilitate our trivia contest. If any of those sound like you, please click here, or go to LWVCollin.org and click "volunteer signup" under the Members Only tab to view volunteer opportunities. And if you haven't already, click here to view more details about the celebration and buy tickets.
Voter Registration Volunteers Needed!
We have a lot of voter services events coming up, but only one voter registration event at a senior center still needs VDRs. See the event below.
- March 19 10:30AM-12:00PM and/or 1:00-3:00PM at The Legacy at Willow Bend in Plano - Click here
Reminder for previously registered VDRs: Your VDR term expired on December 31st, 2024 and must be renewed (if you haven't already) to volunteer at these events. Visit the Collin County Elections Office website here and call to make an appointment to renew your VDR status. Don't forget to return your VDR materials to the Elections Office when you renew.

May 3 Local Election Information Bookmarks
For every election LWV-CC delivers thousands of bookmarks to libraries with information about what’s on the ballot and how to access our nonpartisan Voters Guides on VOTE411 and our website. For the May 3 local election, which includes races for mayor, city council, ISD trustees, and Collin College trustees, we will have bookmarks for members to distribute to their friends, families and organizations. Come to one of our in-person meetings in February and March to pick up a supply of bookmarks!
Want an especially large number of bookmarks? Contact LWVCollin@gmail.com in advance of an event.

Update to LWV Membership Join/Renew
LWV now has a consistent Join/Renew process for the entire organization. If you haven't already, you should soon have received an email from LWVUS inviting you to activate your account by signing in to the new system and updating your profile. Signing in will be easy & will not require a new password. We encourage you to do this so that you are ready prior to your annual renewal timeframe.
At your next renewal, you will get to choose your dues. The recommended amount is $75, however you are welcome to pay more or less, with a minimum of $20. You may also sign up another person, such as a household member, for the same dues amount. The next screen will offer the option to donate to the local league. Payment may be done online using a credit card or ACH bank transfer. Your credit card statement will show 3 charges, since the dues will be split across the national, state, & local levels.

Register for the Federal Judiciary Consensus Meeting
Resources are now available for the Federal Judiciary Consensus Meeting. Click here to visit the LWVUS resources page. On it you will find the recording of the February 4 Town Hall, which answered members' questions, and the Policy Briefs for 10 aspects of the federal judiciary. The Policy Briefs are quick 1-2 page primers on aspects of the federal judiciary that will be relevant to our discussion. If you are interested in attending the Consensus Meeting, you may want to watch the town hall and/or read through some of the Policy Briefs, but it is not required to take part in the discussion.
On March 18 at 6:30PM LWV-CC members will meet at the Haggard Library to consider questions for a Federal Judiciary Study. Register here to attend the meeting. This event is not sponsored by the Plano Public Library System or the City of Plano.
At the meeting, a moderator will present the questions for discussion and LWV-CC will pass on the meeting’s consensus for LWVUS’s consideration.
The study was prompted by league members’ interest as expressed at the national convention. Questions about Supreme Court ethics policies prompted the study and LWV members voted at the convention to expand the study beyond the Supreme Court to examine lower federal courts, as well. The goal is to develop a comprehensive policy on the judiciary, as LWVUS currently has no such policy.
