The LWV-CC believes transportation is an essential public service that contributes to better access to housing and jobs and improves the quality of life. Transportation in Collin County should:

• Be subsidized with public funds, as necessary.
• Be equitably distributed and maintained for all residents.
• Incorporate a full and interconnected network of sidewalks and other active transportation infrastructure.
• Provide adequate citizen education and participation in decisions about transportation options.
• Prioritize solutions that reduce the necessity of cars rather than expand highway and road capacity in suburban and urban areas.
• Be a part of a regionally coordinated system that provides convenient and affordable alternatives to car ownership and incorporates coordinated and mass forms of transit.
